Participant Info

Players, coaches, team officials and umpires should arrive in Windsor no later than 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday August 23rd, 2006.

The Opening Championship Bar-B-Q is scheduled for Wednesday, August 23rd, 2006. at 6:00p.m. in the tent adjacent to the Holiday Inn Select (the host hotel). All Players, coaches, officials and umpires are invited to attend at no charge. (tickets will be given)  Parents and family can purchase tickets on site.

On Tuesday August 22nd, 2006, The Detroit Tigers MLB will be in Detroit (a five minute trip from Windsor) playing the World Series Champions, Chicago White Sox. Game time is 7:05 p.m.

If your team wishes to arrive early and attend this game the host organization can make arrangements for tickets and transportation. Cost for the ticket and transportation from the Holiday Inn Select will be approximately $25.00 Can. REMEMBER: you must have two pieces of identification, one of which must be your birth certificate, to get across the U.S. border. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT TEAM INFORMATION BE FORWARDED TO THE HOST ORGANIZATION EITHER BY FAX: (519) 944 - 1588 OR BY email: rmba@on.aibn.com AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. This information is required for room accommodation, and for insertion in the program and should include team name, bckgrounder on the team and community, team roster with complete names, height, weight, school attending, throwing ( L or R) batting (L or R) and any other information on your team.

PRE - CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING:

Will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2006, at 7:30 p.m. (immediately after the opening Bar-B-Q) in the Holiday Inn Select. Signs will be posted to advise the meeting room location. The coaching staff and Chef de Mission are invited, but, at least one representative from ech team is reqired. The Baseball Canada Representative will Chair this meeting.

The Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor of Umpires will be in attendance to answer any of your questions with regard to rules.

ACCOMMODATIONS:

Players and Coaches:

Players, Coaches and Chef de Missions will be housed at the Holdiay Inn Select, 1855 Huron Church Road, Windsor, Ontario N9C 2L6, Phone: 519- 966 - 1200  Fax 519 966-7280. Each team has been allotted ten rooms. Each room has two beds. Teams must arrange with Riverside Baseball for rooming lists. Each team will have a credit of $2,500.00 towards room costs. Additional fees will be the responsiblity of individual teams.

Families/Guests:

For Parents and Family, Riverside Baseball has blocked rooms at the Hampton Inn and Suites, 1840 Huron Church Road, Windsor, Ontario (Directly across from the Holiday Inn Select). Mike Sorrell email address is Mike_Sorrell@Hilton.com. Room rate is $109.00 per night which includes complimentary buffet style breakfast including hot items served fresh each morning.

There are many restaurants, Tim Hortons, and other services within easy walking distance of both the Holiday Inn Select and the Hampton Inn and Suites.

UMPIRES & Baseball Canada Representative:

Umpires accommodations will be at the Stonecroft Inn, 3032 Dougall Ave. Windsor, Ontario. N9E 1S4. Phone: 519 - 969-7600, The contact person is Mary Jane Silvestro. The Supervisor of Umpires must give the rooming list to the host organization. All per diem fees will be issued thru the Supervisor of Umpires

Meals:

All meals except the opening Bar-B-Q are the responaiblity of the indivuidual teams. There will be concessions at Riverside Baseball Centre which can accommodate meals for lunch and dinner

Transportation:

Transportation will be provided for team players and coaches to and from all games.

Transportation will also be provided from team's arrival point in Windsori.e. airport, train or bus stations to the Holiday Inn Select. Team players coaches and officials will also be provided with transportation from Detroit Metro Airport (one trip pickup for arrival and on trip for departure per team) If this is their "TEAM" arrival and departure point.

Rental Vehicles:

Enterprise Rent a Car is the official car rental agency for the Bantam National Championship. They will pick you up at your hotel and make arrangments for vehicles. Contact is 3703 Walker Road (near Windsor Airport) Call 519 966-9600.

Opening Ceremonies:

 

Opening Ceremonies will commence at approx. 8:30 pm on Thursday, august 24th. All teams must attend and be in their uniform or team dress. A march in of all teams and umpires led by a band will begin the ceremony. Dignitaries as well as Baseball Canada Officials will be on hand to participate.

Umpires:

 

Umpires must arrive in Windsor by 4:00 pm Wednesday August 23rd, 2006. Accommodations for umpires has been arranged at the Stonecroft Inn, 3032 Dougall Ave. Windsor, Ontario Phone 519-969-7600 or 1-800-665-6296.

Transportation will be provided for arrival and departure from the Stonecrfot. Transportation to all games will be arranged from the Stonecroft.

Change rooms, showers, and transportation via golf cart to the diamonds will be provided from the Riverside Baseball Centre.

All transportation will be arranged by the host organization in consultation with the Supervisor of Umpires.

Umpires will be given a daily per-diem allowance of $25.00 Umpires are also invited to attend as guests of the Rivierside Baseblal Assoc. the Opening Bar-B-Q and the Opening Ceremonies. Again, this will be arranged thru the Umpire Supervisor.
