Notes: JNT inter-squad game

ORLANDO-The Junior National Team played an inter-squad game on Sunday which lasted ten innings. Here are some highlights from the game.

-Ryan Kellogg (Whitby, ON), made his JNT debut and was exceptional, working three scoreless innings, giving up one walk and no hits to go along with one strikeout.

-Matt Trimble (Coquitlam, BC) tossed three scoreless innings of one-hit ball, while striking out one batter.

- Michael Foster (Pickering, ON) also threw three innings and gave up one run on three hits and struck out three batters.

-Justin Marra (Toronto, ON) was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, Marra’s single in the 5th scored Bryan Saucedo (Toronto, ON), who had previously doubled.

-Damion Smith (Windsor, ON) had a 2-for-5 day at the plate and scored one run while picking up an RBI.

-Tanner Spencer (Craik, SK) threw three innings and only allowed one run and two hits.

-Jake Hansen (Fort Macleod, AB) made his second appearance of Spring Training and struck out one batter and allowed only one hit in one inning of work.

The JNT is back in action on Monday (April 25th) when they take on the extended Spring Training squad of the Toronto Blue Jays…The JNT will travel to Dunedin, the Spring Training home of the Jays for the game at 1pm ET…Tom Robson (Ladner, BC) is scheduled to start and throw three innings… The Spring Training Camp is an important step in the process as the JNT will attempt to qualify for the 2012 World Junior Baseball Championship (scheduled for Seoul, South Korea) at the Americas World Junior Qualification Tournament in Cartagena, Colombia from September 23rd - October 2nd, 2011… For more information on the JNT program, please click here.
