Juniors win final game in Dominican

Guerra- The Junior National Team saved perhaps their best performance of the Dominican Summer League camp for last as they beat the Los Angeles Dodgers Dominican prospects 4-1.

Four pitchers combined for the victory that saw the Dodgers only record four hits while the JNT defence was defensively sound committing no errors.

Clayton Isherwood (Van Anda, BC) started on the mound and threw five shutout innings, giving up four hits and walking one while fanning three Dodgers.

Justin Marra (Toronto, ON) got the Juniors on the board in the top of the 2nd when he belted a solo homerun with one out.

Bryan Saucedo (Toronto, ON) doubled to lead-off the 3rd inning and looked like he might be stranded at second base until Jacob Robson (Windsor, ON) tripled with two out to score Saucedo. Kyle Hann (Oakville, ON) kept the inning going when he singled to score Robson and put his club up 3-0.

Saucedo was at it again in the 5th when he slammed a solo homer to give him his second hit and run of the game.

Up by four and with Isherwood out of the game, Roberto Suppa (Connor, ON) took the mound and walked a batter who was thrown out by Marra trying to steal second. After another walk, Suppa managed to strikeout the next two batters to get out of the inning unscathed.

In the 7th, the Dodgers scored their only run of the game when a runner scored from third base on a wild-pitch from Logan Seifrit (Spruce Grove, AB). Seifrit got into some trouble in the inning when he issued two walks and gave up a single to load the bases with only one out. After a recording a strikeout, Seifrit managed a fly-out to end the threat with three Dodgers standing on base.

Jake Hansen (Fort Macleod, AB) was virtually flawless in the 8th and 9th innings as he faced only seven batters and struck out five of them to end the game.
