Juniors shutout by USA

Fort Lauderdale, FL-The Junior National Team had no answer for Team USA this afternoon as they were blanked 10-0. The teams used the ninth inning to utilize the IBAF extra innings rule.

The US scored four times off JNT starter Cal Quantrill (Port Hope, ON) in the second inning. Quantrill tossed three innings and struck out six in taking the loss.

The Juniors loaded the bases twice with nobody out, but couldn't fotrce a run across the plate.

Dayton Dawe (London, ON) threw three innings and only gave up one run on three hits, while Michael Clouthier (Guelph, ON) threw 2 2/3 innings and was touched up for four runs on three hits and five walks.

Offensively, the Juniors received singles from Dustin Houle (Penticton, BC), Jacob Robson (Windsor, ON), Damion Smith (Windsor, ON) and Gareth Morgan (Toronto, ON).

The Juniors will get another opportunity to play Team USA tomorrow at 10am in their final tune-up game before heading to Cartagena, Colombia for the Americas World Junior Qualification Tournament November 17-27.
