Tragedy in Alberta

OTTAWA-Baseball Canada would like to express their deepest sympathies to the families and friends of Tanner Craswell and Mitch MacLean of Charlottetown and Cornwall, PEI. Tanner and Mitch were fatally shot on Highway 2 near Claresholm, Alberta early Thursday morning. Tanner just turned 22 years old while Mitch was 20.

Tanner, an infielder, participated in the Fall Instructional League and Extended Spring Training with the Junior National Team in 2007 and also represented PEI at the Baseball Canada Cup (2004, 2005, 2006).

Mitch, a right-handed pitcher, represented PEI at the Baseball Canada Cup in 2006, where he was teammates with Tanner, and 2007. Mitch also played in the 2009 Canada Summer Games.

Both players were members of the Lethbridge Bulls in the Western Major Baseball league in 2011.
