Baseball Canada announces JNT Roster for Dominican Camp

OTTAWA – Baseball Canada has announced its Junior National Team 30-man roster that will be heading down to the Dominican Republic for the squad’s annual Dominican Summer League Camp which will take place from May 19-28.

Included on the 30-man roster are highly touted high school prospects Kellin Deglan (Langely, BC), Evan Grills (Whitby, ON) and Rowan Wick (North Vancouver, BC). Deglan and Grills were recently ranked in the Top 100 High School Prospects list by Baseball America.  All three are eligible for this summer's MLB First Year Player Draft.

The JNT will compete in a 12 game schedule, including four doubleheaders, against Major League Baseball affiliated Summer League teams (Los Angeles Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers, Minnesota Twins, New York Mets, New York Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies, San Francisco Giants, Seattle Mariners, Tampa Bay Rays, Texas Rangers and Toronto Blue Jays [x2]).

Baseball Canada has also released the pitching rotation schedule which specifies which pitcher will be on the mound for each game and how many innings they will throw.

The Dominican Camp is one of two camps remaining prior to the World Junior Baseball Championship. There will be a final camp and exhibition schedule from July 4-22 where they cut the roster down to the allowed 20-man roster for the world championship.

The 2010 World Junior Baseball Championship will be held from July 23-August 1 in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
