OTTAWA – Baseball Canada announces the summer schedule for the Final Camp of the season for the Junior National Team, which will involve some international flavour.
The Final Camp, which is scheduled through June 22nd – July 9th, will feature both the USA College National Team and the Cuban Junior National Team.
“We’re very excited about having the opportunity to challenge ourselves against two of the world’s best baseball playing nations,” says Head Coach and Director of National Teams Greg Hamilton.
The JNT will first make its way to Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina where they will play a five game series starting on June 25th with the USA College National Team at the USA Baseball Training Complex and at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
After a brief respite back in Canada for the Canada Day holiday in Toronto, Team Canada will make their way down to Havana, Cuba on July 2nd and beginning on July 3rd, will face the Cuban Junior National Team for a six game series.
“This schedule will significantly impact our preparations for the 2010 World Junior Championship in Thunder Bay,” adds Hamilton, “while providing our graduating seniors an excellent developmental opportunity prior to entering college and professional baseball.”
