OTTAWA-The annual Baseball Canada Fall Convention is scheduled to take place at the Delta Prince Edward beginning tomorrow and running through until November 8th where representatives from the national, provincial and local levels will meet to discuss the growth and development of amateur baseball in Canada.
This year’s event takes on special meaning as Baseball Canada celebrates its 50th anniversary.
The four-day event will see participants partake in workshops, professional development seminars and information sessions geared towards the growth, promotion and development of amateur baseball.
Baseball Canada is pleased to announce that Lyle Cameron, President and CEO of Quotient Factor and Mike Kujawski, Partner and Senior Consultant with the Centre of Excellence for Public Sector Marketing will be in Charlottetown to deliver presentations to delegates. Mr. Cameron’s presentation will focus around the “7 Healthy Habits of Effective People”, while Mr. Kujawski will address “Harnessing the Power of Social Media”.
Representatives from the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Academy will make their annual presentation updating attendees on their programs and events that support and promote amateur baseball across Canada.
On Saturday, November 8th, Baseball PEI will be hosting ‘PEI Challenger Baseball Day’ for any new or existing players and families. The event will take place at the APM Centre (37 Lowther Drive in Cornwall) with registration at 9:30am with a game to follow at 10am. An information session will follow at 11am for families wanting to learn more about the program. Challenger Baseball provides an opportunity for children with cognitive or physical disabilities to enjoy the thrill of playing baseball, being part of a team, developing physical and social skill plus all the benefits of participation in baseball at a level structured to their abilities.
The Baseball Canada/Baseball PEI Awards Banquet will take place on Saturday, November 8th from 7-9pm at the Delta Prince Edward that will conclude the four-day event. Baseball Canada is honoured to welcome Hall of Fame second baseman and two-time World Series champion, Roberto Alomar as the guest speaker along with Hot 105.5's Zack Bell who will emcee the evening.
Award presentations will be made for the Women’s National Team MVP, Baseball Canada and Major League Baseball Volunteer of the Year, Dick Willis Umpire of the Year, Lionel Ruhr Coach of the Year and the Province of the Year. At the same time, Baseball PEI will be handing out their annual awards.
