OTTAWA- Baseball Canada would like to congratulate a pair of National Team alums , Jason Dickson (Miramichi, NB) and Rhéal Cormer (Cap Pélé, NB), after it was announced today that both will be inducted into the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame.

Dickson, who currently serves as Baseball Canada’s Vice-President, joined the National Teams program in 1991 when he was a member of the Youth Team (now Junior National Team) that won the World Youth Championship in Brandon, MB.

He later went onto pitch part of four seasons in the big-leagues, all with the Anaheim Angels, and was an American League All-Star in 1997.

In 2004, the right-handed pitcher represented Canada at the 2004 Olympics in Athens.

Cormier made his debut with the National Teams program in 1985 as a member of the Youth Team. Two years later he represented Canada at the Pan Am Games before participating in the 1988 Seoul Olympics when baseball was a demonstration sport.

In 1991, the southpaw made his major league debut and so began a 16 year career in the big leagues with stops in St. Louis, Boston, Montréal, Philadelphia and Cincinnati.

After throwing his final pitch in the big-leagues in 2007, Cormier wrapped-up his playing career by representing Canada at the Olympics for the second time when the event was held in Beijing in 2008.

Cormier was inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 2012.

Both individuals will be formally inducted into the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame on June 7th at a ceremony in St. Stephen, New Brunswick.
