Gélinas captures Sport Québec award

OTTAWA- Reigning Women’s National Team Most Valuable Player Daphnée Gélinas picked up some more hardware on Wednesday evening as she was presented with “International Team Sport Athlete” award at the 46^th annual Sport Québec Gala in Montréal.

Gélinas was at her best on August 31^st, 2018 when she slugged a three-run homer and also broke a tie in extra-innings with an RBI single that put Canada in the lead en route to a bronze medal win over the United States at the WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup in Viera, Florida.

A native of Repentigny, Québec - Gélinas led Canada with 9 RBI and a 1.244 OPS while hitting .409 in eight tournament games.

She has been a member of the Women’s National Team program since 2016 and has competed in two Women’s Baseball World Cup events.
