OTTAWA- Canada will be compete in Group A along with the United States, Chinese Taipei and the Netherlands as groups were revealed today for the 6th IBAF Women’s World Cup scheduled for September 1-7 in Miyazaki, Japan.
Group B will feature host Japan, while Australia, Venezuela and Hong Kong round out the field.
Host Japan, the three time defending gold medalists, will get an opportunity to defend their gold medal on home soil, while the United States and Canada enter the event as defending silver and bronze medalists respectively.
Canada has won four medals (3 bronze, 1 silver) in the five Women’s World Cup events to date with the highlight being a silver medal the last time the event was held in Japan in 2008.
Player selection for the Women’s National Team will take place August 14-18 at the Senior Women Invitation in Surrey, BC. After a short training camp, players and staff will depart for Japan before the event begins on September 1st.
