National Championships: Thrilling Games Continue Across Canada

Action continues across the country at the Baseball Canada National Championships. 

13U National Championship

Ontario’s squads had a very successful second day in Repentigny. 

Their primary squad secured two big wins, including a close comeback win against the hosting Repentigny squad. Ontario (2) also picked up a high-scoring win over British Columbia. 

Saturday’s games may include some tiebreakers to set the stage for Sunday’s final games.

15U Ray Carter Cup 

Prince Edward Island won both their Friday games by scoring 10 runs. Their lineup has seen no shortage of offense as PEI’s bats collected 25 hits over their two games. 

Friday also featured a provincial battle between Ontario and the hosting Oshawa. Instead of a close contest, Ontario ended up shutting out the host, limiting them to just four hits and taking advantage of their six errors. 

Quarter-Finals are set to start late Saturday. All games can be streamed here.

16U Girls Invitational

Some of Friday’s action in Bedford reflected the high scoring games on Thursday, with Nova Scotia (2) and Québec scoring more than 15 runs in two of their wins. 

Nova Scotia and Québec’s primary teams have already solidified a spot in Saturday’s Semi-Finals. Saskatchewan and Ontario will also play a Semi-Final contest, with their opponents to be determined by the morning’s Quarter-Finals.

BIGS Seeds Men’s Championship

The host Chatham Ironmen pulled off two wins on Friday, including a lengthy extra-inning battle against Alberta. The game required six extra innings, nearly another game, to be completed. Both squads matched each other’s 15 hits until Chatham squeaked in two runs on a single in the bottom of the 13th. 

Early games tomorrow will determine the Quarter-Finals later in the day.
