2024 National Championship season in the books

OTTAWA – The 2024 Baseball Canada National Championship season has come to an end after the 13U, 15U Ray Carter Cup, 16U Girls, and Men’s Championships all took place over the weekend.

13U National Championships

British Columbia was triumphant at the 13U National Championships after defeating Ontario (1) 4-2 on Sunday night in Woodstock, Ontario.

The champions exploded for ten hits, including three in four at-bats from Jaxsen B. Jaxsen also came around to score twice and pitched three innings where he struck out five and allowed a hit and a run.

Charlie M, who went 1-for-4 at the plate, collected two RBIs and Maddox Y, who had two hits, drove in the remaining run for British Columbia.

Charlie also pitched five innings to add to his two-RBI performance. En route to the win, he struck out nine batters and allowed four hits and a run.

Québec takes home the bronze

Earlier in the day, Québec defeated Ontario (Host) 3-2 to claim the bronze medal.

15U Ray Carter Cup

British Columbia became 15U Ray Carter Cup Champions after beating Alberta 2-0 in Laval, Québec, on Sunday night.

Reece Abbott was the only player to collect an RBI in an impressive pitchers' duel matchup.

Caleb Miller, British Columbia's starter, allowed two hits and struck out eight in four innings. Meanwhile, Alberta’s Josh Mills responded with a three-hit, 14-strikeout performance over six frames.

Québec claims bronze

Earlier in the day, Québec (Host) cruised to a 6-2 victory over Saskatchewan to claim the bronze medal.

16U Girls National Championships

Québec claimed the 16U Girls National Championship after defeating Alberta 6-1 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, on Sunday night.

Alexia Gagliano and Maika Dumais led the way for the champions with two RBIs each. Kyanna Faucher, Québec’s starting pitcher, recorded the win and was incredible. She allowed a hit and struck out seven batters in 4 1/3 innings. 

Liv Jimerson and Faucher collected the remaining two RBIs for Québec.

Ontario takes home bronze

Earlier in the day, Ontario defeated Saskatchewan 12-2 to capture the bronze medal. Mackenzie Rosebrugh propelled Ontario to the win with a three-hit, three-RBI outing.

Men’s National Championships

Québec successfully defended its title and captured the Men’s National Championship for a second consecutive year after beating Saskatchewan 2-0 in Tecumseh, Ontario, on Sunday night.

Despite Moises Perez, Emile Boies, and François Lafrenière having two hits each, Michel Dagenais drove in the lone run for the champions in a powerful pitchers’ duel.

David Gauthier, Québec’s starting pitcher, earned the win in a lights-out, seven-inning outing where he allowed six hits and struck out 11.

Logan Hofmann, on the bump for Saskatchewan, performed well over seven frames, where he allowed eight hits and two runs but struck out seven.

Ontario claims bronze

Earlier in the day, Ontario (Host) beat Alberta 3-2 to capture the bronze medal on home soil.
