45-Game Schedule Released for The Road to Okotoks and The Morneau Cup Presented by Rawlings

OTTAWA, ON – The road has been traveled. The field has been set. Now, the pursuit of Canada's premier amateur baseball championship begins.

Baseball Canada is pleased to unveil the official schedule for The Road to Okotoks and The Morneau Cup presented by Rawlings, taking place July 14-19 at Seaman Stadium and Tourmaline Field in Okotoks, Alberta.

Sixteen of Canada's top amateur baseball programs will converge on Okotoks for six days of competition, all with one goal in mind: becoming the first club to raise The Morneau Cup and earn the title of Canada's premier amateur baseball program.

Over the course of 45 games, teams from across the country will battle through a format designed to reward consistency while creating high-stakes playoff baseball.

The tournament will feature four pools of four teams. Each club will play a three-game round robin schedule within its pool, along with one crossover game against a team from another pool.

The top team in each pool will advance directly to the quarterfinals, while the second- and third-place finishers will meet in winner-take-all play-in games for the opportunity to advance. From there, eight teams will remain standing as the tournament shifts into single-elimination play, culminating with the championship game on Sunday, July 19 at Seaman Stadium.

"This event was created to bring together the top amateur baseball programs in Canada and provide them with a true national championship experience," said Baseball Canada CEO Jason Dickson. "The Road to Okotoks qualifiers showcased outstanding competition across the country, and we're excited to welcome this talented field to Okotoks as they compete for the inaugural Morneau Cup."

Day 1 action on Tuesday, July 14 will be highlighted by host Okotoks Dawgs Black taking on Atlantic Frontier at 7:00 p.m. MT at Seaman Stadium.

Fans can also look forward to several marquee events throughout the week, including Opening Ceremonies on Wednesday, July 15 at 6:30 p.m. MT at Seaman Stadium, celebrating the athletes, coaches and organizations that have earned the opportunity to compete for a national championship.

The tournament's Home Run Derby is scheduled for Friday, July 17 at 5:15 p.m. MT at Seaman Stadium and will showcase some of the event's top power hitters prior to the evening's Western Canadian Baseball League game featuring the hometown Okotoks Dawgs.

Hosted in one of Canada's premier baseball communities, The Road to Okotoks and The Morneau Cup presented by Rawlings will showcase elite amateur talent while providing players, coaches and fans with a championship atmosphere unlike any other.
