MEMO TO TEAMS:
Players, Coaches & Team Officials
Teams must be in Moncton by 5:00pm, Wednesday, August 25, 2004.
Accommodations provided at the University of Moncton or at the host hotel, Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel. Seven out-of-town teams will stay at the University of Moncton. Teams choosing to make accommodations other than at the University, players will be given $28.00 per person / per day.
Rooms will be available from Wednesday, August 25th thru Monday, August 30th
Earlier arrival & later departure arrangements must be made by individual teams contacting the host committee.
Transportation has been arranged for all teams (players and coaches only. Transportation will be available to and from the airport and for all events during the championship. Only teams staying at the University of Moncton or Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel will be provided with transportation.
Breakfast and supper will be the responsibility of the individual teams. A breakfast plan is available at the University of Moncton at a cost of $5.75 per person, per day. You must advise the host committee if your team will be taking part in the breakfast plan. (menu is attached) Lunch will be provided by the host committee from Thursday thru Sunday. Supper meal plans are being made at various locations in the Moncton area (further information will be provided).
The Pre-Championship meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at 6:00pm. A representative from every team is required to attend. The meeting will be held at the Beausejour Curling Club, which is adjacent to Kiwanis Park.
The Home Run Derby will be held at 6:00pm at Kiwanis Park on Wednesday, August 25, 2004.
The reception will be held at Kiwanis Park on Wednesday, August 25th beginning at 8:00pm. Complimentary tickets are provided for all players, coaches and Chef de Missions, Umpires and Officials. The banquet will take place following the home run derby.
Opening Ceremonies will be held at 8:00pm on Thursday, August 26th at Kiwanis Park. All teams are required to be in full uniform.
Games will be played at Kiwanis Park and the University of Moncton field, which are located minutes away from each other. Both fields have concessions stands, washrooms, first aid stations and will be in radio contact with Championship coordinators at all times.
Practice fields will be available for each team throughout the tournament. Please provide a schedule of preferred practice times and a final practice schedule will be coordinated at a future date.
Equipment repair is available from Maritime Sports & Repair Ltd., which is located at 242 Lewisville Rd. in Moncton, phone 858-8421.
Uniform cleaning services are available from Vail's Laundry & Cleaners, phone 855-6280. They will be offering pick-up and delivery laundry service for all teams. The cost for this service is $75.00 per team / per day.
We will be hosting a golf tournament which will be held on Tuesday, August 24th beginning at 1:00pm at the Moncton Golf & Country Club. If your team has arrived in town and are interested in participating please contact Ralph Chambers for more information (contact information below).
Hertz Rent a Car is the official car rental service of the 2004 Baseball Canada Senior Championship. A file is attached that has complete information if your team requires rental services.
UMPIRES:
Umpires must be in Moncton by 5:00pm, Wednesday, August 25, 2004 and the pre-tournament meeting will be determined by the supervisors.
Accommodations for umpires and umpire supervisors have been arranged at Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel.
Earlier arrivals and later departures must be made known to the organizing committee.
Transportation for umpires to and from the airport and to and from games during the championship will be taken care of by the Host Committee.
Umpires will be given a Meal Per Diem by the Host Committee to cover the meal costs during the Championship.
