OTTAWA - With six Baseball Canada National Championships already in the books for 2023, the busiest weekend of the summer is set to begin on Thursday, August 24th with the playing of the Men’s, 16U Girls, 15U Ray Carter Cup and 13U National Championships across four different locations.
National Champions will be crowned on Sunday, August 27th.
Men’s Championship – Red Deer, Alberta
One of the most sought after events for club teams in Canada, the Men’s Championship will see ten teams, representing nine provinces, along with host Red Deer compete for a national title. The field includes defending champions the Windsor Stars who will be representing Onatrio and looking to win back-to-back title, a feat that hasn’t been accomplished since 2016 when Tecumseh (Ontario) won championships in consecutive years.
16U Girls – Summerside, PEI
An event that hasn’t stopped growing since its inception in 2003, the 16U Girls Championship returns to Summerside, PEI for the second year in a row with 11 teams, representing ten provinces set to compete. Québec enters the event as the defending champions and will have two entries among the 11 competing teams.
15U Ray Carter Cup – Laval, Québec
The Ray Carter Cup featuring the top 15U teams in the country will be staged in “La Belle Province” with Laval playing host to 11 teams representing ten provinces. Delta, BC captured the national title in 2022 defeating Québec in the championship contest so look for the host province, who will have two entries, looking to thrill the hometown fans.
13U – Woodstock, Ontario
One of the oldest events on Baseball Canada’s National Championships calendar, dating back to 1972, the 13U Championship will be staged in Woodstock, Ontario for the first time ever. Twelve teams, representing ten provinces including two each from Ontario and Québec will be looking to add their name to the list of previous champions, Québec enters the event as the defending champs
