About the Host City

Miramichi NB

On behalf of City Council and the citizens of Miramichi I would like to welcome you to the World Wide Web site.  I would like you to come visit the City of Miramichi and look up the place where Lord Beaverbrook lived, see where the former ambassador to the United States, former Premier of New Brunswick Frank McKenna lived and worked, attend our many festivals as we are known as the City of Festivals.  Please take the time to visit our surrounding communities and also our many native communities, fish the world renowned Miramichi salmon and then come see and talk to our people and they will show you true Miramichi hospitality.  I also look forward to seeing you on the Miramichi.

Sincerely,

Gerry Cormier
Mayor

Whether it is for a day or a lifetime, you can expect more from The City of Miramichi – more great places to live, more great ways to grow a business, and more great ways to enjoy a memorable holiday. We are a city of 18,129, brought together in January 1, 1995, with the amalgamation of the former towns of Chatham and Newcastle and the villages of Douglastown, Loggieville and Nelson-Miramichi. All have a proud heritage – and an even more promising future, with an ever-growing number of business, tourism and recreation opportunities around every corner of our warm and friendly community.
