Baseball Canada Bantam Boys Championships
Mascouche and Terrebonne (Laplaine), Québec
August 13-18 2008
 
Players and coaches must arrive in Mascouche on Wednesday August 13 2008 at 2 pm.
 
The official welcome event and 3 skills contest will happen on Wednesday August 13th at Parc Philippe-Villeneuve in Laplaine at 3h00pm. Teams participation is mandatory.  
 
Please take note that LOC is only responsible for 6 nights of accommodation (Wednesday night until departure on the next Tuesday). Accommodation has been organized in local schools and all costs will be covered by LOC.
 
IMPORTANT: It is very important you send your team’s information to LOC as soon as possible by fax at (514)745-5813 or by email at  daniel.lebrasseur@videotron.ca. This information is necessary for accommodation and for the official souvenir program we want to produce. Please include team name, team information and city, team roster including full name, weight, height, H/T and anything you wish we should know about your team.

Pre-championship meeting
 
The pre-championship meeting will be held on Wednesday August 13th at 9pm, before the 3rd skills contest. All coaches and chefs are invited to attend with a minimum of 1 representative per province. The meeting will take place at the Parc Philippe Villeneuve.
 
Transportation (if necessary) is required from accommodation sites. The Baseball Canada Representative will chair the meeting.
 
The umpires’ supervisors will be attending in order to answer all the questions on the ground rules.
 


Accommodation
 
Players/Coaches
 
Players and Coaches will stay in two local schools in the cities of Laplaine and Mascouche. All reservations have to be made through the LOC. Participants are required to bring their sleeping bags for their own comfort.
 
The LOC is responsable for the accommodation for 18 players, 3 coaches and 1 chef de mission.  Additional coaches, trainer, bat boys etc … are the responsibility of each team.
 
If teams do not wish to stay in schools, they would be responsible for all cost related to accommodation.   
 
Please inform LOC if your team is planning to bus to Mascouche and for local transportation. Our transportation schedule is set to bring teams to parks 1 hour before a game (this schedule will be flexible depending on team’s schedule.)
 
Families/Friends
 
Rooms can be booked directly by families and friends by contacting one of the following hotels in the area.

Meals
 
All meals are the responsibility of the teams. However, it is possible to buy a meal package at $35 per day or for $116 for 4 days ($29 per day). The meal package will include a breakfast, lunch and a full dinner served  in a local restaurant . This includes meals for Thursday through Sunday. You can also add Monday to the package at a cost of $35 per participant. Reservations for meal packages have to be made two weeks prior to the event at the latest.
 
Laundry
 
This service is available providing team participation, uniforms will be washed ,removal of stains, dried and folded, ready to wear next day,uniforms will be picked up daily in a player identified bag for 3 days, cost is $10.00 per player.
 
Opening Banquet and skills competition
 
Two skills competition will start at 3:00pm on August 13th.
 
Each team must be represented by 6 players. Please have the players wearing the team’s uniform and bring your favorite bat although bats will be provided. There will be a special recognition for winners. This event is appreciated by the participants and also serves as a way to have players mingling and get to know each other,there will be a hitting derby,race around the bases and the endurance, 2 players from each team for each competition.
 
Following skills competition, all players,coaches and chef de mission will be invited to share a meal at the Poulet Nouveau restaurant.
 
Parents, spectators and friends are welcomed to join,all meals will be at their expense.  
 
Opening ceremonies
 
Opening ceremonies will be on Wednesday August 13th at 7 :30pm. All teams are invited and must wear team’s uniform. The ceremonies will begin by all teams and umpires marching on to the field with music. Dignitaries from the federal, provincial and municipal as well as from Baseball Canada will also participate. Furthermore, entertainment will be provided followed by our national anthem. We ask, all teams to bring their provincial flag for the parade.

Umpires must be in Mascouche for 3pm on the 13th. They will stay at :

Change rooms, showers and local transportation will be provided from the hotel.
 
Transportation from Trudeau Airport is provided to all umpires and local transportation will be provided during the event.
 
The transportation schedule will be provided after consultation with the umpire’s supervisor.
 
Umpires will receive a per-diem. They are also invited to the welcome banquet and opening ceremonies. Everything will be coordinated through the umpire’s supervisor.

Practices
 
We have 2 fields available for practice sessions located at 3 minutes walking distance from the accommodation site. Practices are schedule to last 60 to 90 minutes each. Reservations will go on first come first serve basis.
 
Transportation
 
Transportation will be provided for all teams for the duration of the championship for all games and official tournament events.
 
Transportation will also be provided to teams flying to Montreal-Trudeau airport/train station/bus station to accommodation sites.  
 

Parents, friends and other people flying with the teams along with transportation on time off and extra day are the responsibility of each team.
