Baseball Canada announces preliminary roster for Spring Training Alumni Week

OTTAWA-Baseball Canada is pleased to announce the preliminary roster of players that will travel to St. Petersburg, FL in March as part of the Junior National Team’s Spring Training Alumni Week. Additional players could be named to the roster at a later date.

The preliminary roster consists of 31-players, 12 of whom will make their JNT debut in March, while the remaining 19 players have all attended JNT camps/events in the past.

This is the second consecutive year that the JNT will make the trip to St. Petersburg where they will play an eight game schedule at historic Al Lang Stadium.

Highlighting the schedule will be a game against a split-squad version of the Toronto Blue Jays on March 13th. For the second time in as many years, the Juniors will take-on Canada’s only Major League club in what promises to be a memorable event. Former JNT players Brett Lawrie (Langley, BC), Adam Loewen (Surrey, BC), Michael Crouse (Port Moody, BC) and Marcus Knecht (Toronto, ON) along with former Blue Jays Aaron Hill and John McDonald made the trip to St. Petersburg last year.

The schedule also features a match-up with the Philadelphia Phillies and two games against the Netherlands who recently captured the IBAF World Cup in Panama. Rounding out the schedule will be a two game set with St. Petersburg Junior College and two games against yet to be determined opponent(s).
