Adam Stern called up to the big leagues

OTTAWA – Adam Stern has been called up by the Milwaukee Brewers from the Triple-A Nashville Sound of the Pacific Coast League on May 11th.

The London, Ontario native was called up after the Brewers placed outfielder Carlos Gomez on the 15-Day disabled list, retroactive from May 6th.

So far this season, Stern has a .349 average with an on base percentage of .429 while hitting one home run, one double and four RBI in 12 games with the Sound.

This marks Stern’s first stint in the major leagues since 2007 when he appeared in two games with the Baltimore Orioles. In 48 career games in the big leagues with the Boston Red Sox and the Orioles, Stern has an average of .143 with one home run, one double, six RBI and two stolen bases.

The 30-year-old outfielder was an integral part of Team Canada winning the bronze medal at the 2009 IBAF Baseball World Cup in Italy, giving a veteran presence on a young squad providing leadership both on and off the field. In the tournament, he hit .333 with one home run, three double and nine RBI in 13 games.
