Baseball Canada accepting host bids until December 15th

OTTAWA – Baseball Canada is accepting bids to host the 2010 National Championships until December 15th, 2009.

Only three championships have hosts selected thus far; Bantam Boys Championship in Vaughan, Ontario; Senior Men’s Championship in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and the Canada Cup in Kindersley, Saskatchewan.

One major hurdle for the host committees was the accommodation costs. But at the recent Baseball Canada Convention in St. John’s, Newfoundland, the Baseball Canada Board of Directors passed a motion to charge the participating teams $1,000 per scheduled day of competition for accommodations, thus alleviating some of the costs on the hosts.

The remaining championships in need of hosts are the Midget Championship, Junior Championship and Bantam Girls Championship.

The 2010 Baseball Canada Championship Hosting Guide is available for those interested in placing a bid for one of the remaining championships. Click here to view the hosting guide.

Cities and towns interested to bid as host for one of these championships can contact André Lachance, Baseball Operations Manager with Baseball Canada at 613-748-5606, ext. 226, or via e-mail at alachance@baseball.ca.
