Baseball Canada announces Fall Instructional Camp invitees

OTTAWA – Baseball Canada is pleased to announce the names of 35 athletes who’ve been invited to attend the Junior National Team’s Fall Instructional Camp in Dunedin, Florida from October 14-23.

The camp will include daily workouts and intrasquad games at TD Ballpark in Dunedin, the spring training home of the Toronto Blue Jays. On October 19th, the squad will travel to Melching Field in DeLand, Florida for two, seven-inning contests against Stetson University.

The camp will focus on player development, instruction and exposure for players to the next levels of baseball.

The roster includes 15 players (Liam Adamson, Parker Burgess, Cameron Chee-Aloy, Ty Doucette, Tyrus Hall, Ty Hamilton, Max Hartman, Carson Hindmarsh, Joshua Jones, Chase Marshall, Myles Naylor, Jérémy Pilon, Reece Usselman, Sam White and Jacob Zibin) that participated in the 18U Friendship Series against the United States last month in Bradenton and Sarasota while Nick Frers, Jack Pineau and Conor Pote participated in the training camp that was held in Ajax, Ontario in late August.

All other players named to the roster will be getting their first experience with the Junior National Team program.

“We’re excited to welcome a new group of players into our program while continuing the development process with the returning group of players,” said Head Coach and Director of Men’s National Teams Greg Hamilton. “The fall camp provides an excellent opportunity to evaluate and develop players in a competitive environment while offering them glimpse into the higher levels of the game.”

Joining Hamilton on the coaching staff are a group of former national team players and pros that includes Cole Armstrong, TJ Burton, Wes Darvill, Rob Ducey, Scott Mathieson, Pete Orr and Chris Reitsma.

With the 2021 WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup delayed to 2022 as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, the camp will serve as the first event in the evaluation process towards selecting the final 20-player roster.
