National Championships: Four Exciting Tournaments Kickoff 

The 13U National Championship, 15U Ray Carter Cup, 16U Girls Invitational, and BIGS Seeds Men’s Championship are underway in Repentigny, Oshawa, Bedford, and Miramichi respectively. 

13U National Championship

Following the 13U Western Championship last weekend, the 13U Nationals got started in Québec.

The host Repentigny collected two wins including a late game comeback over Manitoba. 

Ontario’s squads and Québec also had a successful first day, coming out with a win.

15U Ray Carter Cup 

Manitoba had an impressive debut at the Ray Carter Cup, pulling off two wins with a shutout.

Both the host Oshawa and Ontario are looking to continue their success as the two teams secured close wins, including an Oshawa walk-off. 

Most of day one’s action remained close with the exception of some high-scoring efforts by Québec and British Columbia.

16U Girls Invitational Championship

Plenty of offence was on display in Bedford on the first day of the 16U Girls Invitational. 

Half of the games played Thursday had double digits in the final score. Three games had the winning team score 19 runs or more. 

Nova Scotia’s squads thrived on home soil as Nova Scotia (2) secured two wins while their first squad went 1-1. Newfoundland also dominated in a 20-0 shutout against PEI.

BIGS Seeds Men’s Championship

As one of the few senior tournaments of the National Championships, the BIGS Seeds Men’s Championships has generated a lot of excitement in Miramichi. 

Québec was the only team to split their debut games. Nova Scotia’s squads are coming on strong with a win each, featuring a shutout. 

The host Chatham Ironmen also defeated British Columbia in front of a home crowd at Ironmen Field.
