The Blue Jays Baseball Academy in collaboration with Hall of Famer Roberto Alomar will host the second annual Tournament 12 Baseball Showcase at Rogers Centre, September 16-20, 2014.
Tournament 12 is a national baseball tournament designed to showcase the best college eligible Canadian born players to both professional scouts and college recruiters. Roberto Alomar will act as the Tournament Commissioner and will receive assistance from his father Sandy Alomar, along with Blue Jays alumni Paul Quantrill, Duane Ward, Lloyd Moseby, Devon White and Jesse Barfield.
The players, placed on eight teams representing their region in Canada will each play a minimum of five games at Rogers Centre with a tournament champion being crowned on Saturday, September 20. The eight teams will also take part in a workout day on Tuesday, September 16 where players will be evaluated on speed and throwing ability.
The first ten roster spots for each team will be announced on Wednesday, May 28. Seven additional roster spots per team will be named on Friday, August 15, with the final tournament rosters being declared on Friday, August 29. All players will be selected by the Blue Jays Baseball Academy with assistance from the Blue Jays Scouting Department, Baseball Canada, and the Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau. The 24 tournament games will be umpired by members of the Baseball Canada High Performance Program for Canadian Umpires.
Eligible players will be evaluated throughout the 2014 season at; MLB Scouting Bureau Tryouts, major tournaments, the Canada Cup, and Provincial Roster Selection Camps. There will also be a series of Invitational Final Evaluation Camps in July and August. Exact dates and times will be available at bluejays.com/t12.

Jays Care Foundation, with the support of Roberto Alomar, will make a financial contribution of $100,000 to help remove barriers to participation for players travelling from outside Ontario. These funds will be used to help assist with player travel and accommodations for the tournament.
The inaugural tournament in 2013 resulted in scholarships along with the Blue Jays signing RHP Andrew Case from Saint John, New Brunswick who hurled a no-hitter in the semifinals vs. Quebec Blue with 13 strikeouts.
Tickets will be available for purchase starting Friday, August 22 at bluejays.com. Daily Passes will be available for $17, with Tournament Passes priced at $37. Seating will be general admission.
