Women's Baseball World Cup Suspended

The following statement was released by the IBAF:

The games of the Women's baseball World Cup scheduled for August 14th have been suspended. This decision was taken after a stray bullet struck a player of Hong Kong in the lower leg during competition on Friday, August 13th.

The player was treated at the military medical facility for minor injuries. All of the teams and delegations are safely back in their respective hotels.

The Government of the Republic of Venezuela has guaranteed that safety and security measures will continue to be maximized. The Venezuelan Scientific Department is working on compiling a detailed report regarding the incident.

The IBAF is carefully analyzing the situation with the different delegations. Any decision will be taken keeping the security of every person involved in the Women's Baseball World Cup as the main priority.
