GUERRA, Dominican Republic – After four strong games in the Dominican Republic, the Junior National Team ran into some adversity today against the Houston Astros Dominican prospects and came out on the wrong end of a 13-6 decision. The juniors committed five errors, walked six and allowed thirteen hits including a pair of home runs. The loss puts the Junior National Team’s record at 3-2 with nine games remaining on the tour.
SAN PEDRO DE MACORIS/BOCA CHICA, DR – Four Junior National Team pitchers toed the rubber today to combine for 18 innings of work and just one earned run was charged. Unfortunately it game on a walk off single as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the juniors 2-1 in the second game, but prior to that, the juniors earned a 10-2 win over the Milwaukee Brewers Dominican club. The Junior National Team’s record through three games now sits at 2-1.
BOCA CHICA, DR – The Junior National Team held their traditional Dominican Summer League opener against the Minnesota Twins this afternoon and came away with a 3-2 win on the strength of a pair of solid pitching performances from veterans Josh Burgmann (Nanaimo, BC) and Mathieu Deneault-Gauthier (Candiac, QC).
OTTAWA – The Caraquet Minor Baseball Association has joined Baseball Canada’s growing list of associations that meet the Reaching Baseball Ideals Program’s national standards. Caraquet Minor Baseball is now the fifth association in New Brunswick and the 42nd in the country to receive RBI approved status.

OTTAWA – The 2014 edition of the Junior National Team will be best remembered for winning a bronze medal at the COPABE 18U Pan American “AA” Championships in La Paz, Mexico that earned Canada a spot in the 2015 WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup and also surviving Hurricane Odile that delayed the teams’ departure from the country.
