U-18 World Cup: Canada closes out Opening Round with loss to Korea

SARASOTA, Florida - The Junior National Team saw their last game of the Opening Round at the 2022 WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup slip away as Korea put up an 11-run sixth inning to lock in a 13-0 win.

Koreas pitchers limited Canada’s offence to just three hits en route to recording a shutout.

BOX SCORE – Canada 0, Korea 13

Félix Morin (Quebec City, QC) was the starting pitcher on the mound for Team Canada, giving the squad more than a chance to come on top over his five innings of work. The left-hander limited the Korean offence to two runs, only one of them earned, on four hits while striking out four.

Sam White (Aurora, ON) and Max Hartman (St. Albert, AB) both went 1-for-2 at the plate while Ty Hamilton (Orleans, ON) went 1-for-1 with a walk to represent all of Canada’s offence.

With the loss, Canada finishes the Opening Round a disappointing 1-4 and will move on to the Placement Round where they will match-up against Australia, Italy and Panama, and carry over Opening Rounds results including a win over South Africa and a loss to Brazil, to determine spots seven through 12.

The Placement Round gets underway on September 15 with the full schedule to be made available here.
