OTTAWA- Six players who helped Canada to a 4th place finish at the 2010 World Junior Baseball Championships in Thunder Bay are starting their freshman seasons on college campuses all over the United States. The Junior College baseball season is well underway while Division 1 programs begin play on February 18th.
OTTAWA- For the second year in a row a group of Bantam-aged girls will be heading to Cuba for not only a baseball experience, but a cultural and learning experience as well. The trip will run from February 20-27 and will see 26 girls along with the coaching staff of the Women’s National Team head to the baseball hotbed.
OTTAWA- The winter version of the Canada Games gets underway in Halifax on February 11th where more than 2700 athletes will compete in over 20 sports with the final day of competition scheduled for February 27th.
OTTAWA- Former Junior National Team member Mike Griffin (Nanaimo, BC) is taking his baseball expertise to Asia as he has been hired by Major League Baseball to help oversee the development of players under 20 years old. Griffin will be based out of the MLB Development Centre headquarters in Wuxi, China but will also work with players in other parts of Asia.

OTTAWA- Looking to beat the winter blues? Baseball Canada is pleased to present the 2011 Calendar of Events which can only mean that baseball season will soon be upon us. It will be a busy year on baseball diamonds all over the country and also in international competition with the various National Teams.
Baseball Canada Program Coordinator Kelsey McIntosh returned to his native province as Baseball PEI held its annual awards dinner at Credit Union Place in Summerside. The former Executive Director of Baseball PEI was on hand to speak about the merits of the Rally Cap program and to participate in the awards ceremony.
OTTAWA- When MLB teams open Spring Training across Florida and Arizona at the end of February the Junior National Team will also head south for a Spring Training camp of their own, as part of the first ever National Team Alumni Week in St. Petersburg, Florida. The JNT will participate in a series of exhibition games in conjunction with St. Petersburg International Baseball which will see games played at historic Al Lang Stadium from February 26th- March 5th.
OTTAWA- For the second consecutive year Brett Lawrie (Langley, BC) has appeared on MLB.com Top 50 Prospects list. Lawrie, who comes in at #28, is the lone Canadian listed and one of only two second basemen in the top 50.
