OTTAWA – The host Prince George Axemen gave their fans something to cheer about after defeating Ontario to win the Senior Men’s National Championship. They are the only host team so far to win a Baseball Canada championship this year.
Ronchi Dei Legionari, Italy- The Junior National Team banged-out fourteen hits and Ryan Kellogg (Whitby, ON) provided his team with seven solid innings on the mound as the juniors defeated the Czech Republic 12-2 in a mercy-rule shortened game.
OTTAWA – Ontario and Québec will battle for tournament supremacy when they face off for the Gold Medal in the bantam girls championship. Both teams have cruised through the tournament so far with perfect 4-0 records, but only one will go home as champion. First pitch is scheduled for Sunday at 4pm ADT.
OTTAWA – Alberta, Ontario, New Brunswick and the host team from Prince George will square off Sunday for the right to play in the championship game later that night. Alberta will play Prince George in the first semi-final at 9:30am MT while Ontario will play New Brunswick at 12:30pm MT. First pitch of the championship game is scheduled for 7pm MT.
Ronchi Dei Legionari, Italy- The Junior National Team scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth and held off the USA Selects in the top of the ninth to earn a 10-9 victory and even their record at 1-1 in the Italian Baseball Week Tournament.
OTTAWA – Round-robin play enters its second day at both the bantam boys and bantam girls championships carry on. Teams are starting to round into form as the medal round starts to approach. The medal round for the girls tournament will run all day tomorrow while the medal round for the boys tournament begins tomorrow evening.
OTTAWA – Day 2 has begun out west at both the Senior Nationals and Peewee Western Championships. There are four games scheduled for today in the men’s tournament while the Peewee’s have a full day ahead.
OTTAWA – The standing for both the Senior Men and Western Peewee tournaments are starting to become clearer with the medal closely approaching. The medal round for the Peewee tournament is set as Saturday’s schedule will see semi-final action. The Men’s tournament is little less clear with a few more games to be played before the medal round begins.
OTTAWA – The bantam girls standings are complete and the medal round is set. Play begins Saturday morning. The bantam boys still have a few more games to complete Saturday and then some elimination games will take place in the evening.
OTTAWA – The boys and girls bantam championships have officially begun and will last through the weekend into Sunday. The boys tournament will see an action-filled day of baseball as a total of ten games are scheduled to be played; meanwhile over on the girls side, only four games are scheduled.
