OTTAWA – Canada’s 30-player roster for the 2023 World Baseball Classic was announced tonight on MLB Network along with those of the other 19 participating nations.
OTTAWA – Longtime Men’s National Team pitching coach Denis Boucher will be inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum this June along with former Blue Jays outfielder Jesse Barfield, former Oakland A’s hurler Rich Harden (Victoria, BC) and legendary Manitoba baseball coach and executive Joe Wiwchar.

OTTAWA - It is with great pride that Baseball Canada is pleased to announce that former Women’s National Team player and coach Ashley Stephenson will be joining the coaching staff of the Toronto Blue Jays’ High-A affiliate, the Vancouver Canadians, for the 2023 season.
TORONTO – On Saturday, January 14th, and for the first time since 2020, Baseball Canada welcomed corporate partners, alumni and friends to the 19th Baseball Canada Awards Banquet and Fundraiser.
The Bob Elliott Media Recognition Award is named after Bob Elliott, a former winner (2012) of the BBWAA Career Excellence Award, the highest award given by the Baseball Writers' Association of America (BBWAA), presented annually by the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Elliott covered both the Montréal Expos and Toronto Blue Jays during a distinguished career that spanned four decades, but it’s Bob’s long-lasting contributions to Canadian baseball and raising the profile of Canadians in the game and telling their stories which has resulted in this award being named after him. The Kingston, Ontario native’s Canadian Baseball Network website has been a go-to source for information for years from Canadian baseball sandlots all the way to the big leagues. When a Canadian reaches the majors, chances are the Canadian baseball community read about them years earlier via Elliott and the Canadian Baseball Network. His coverage of Canadian prospects eligible for the annual MLB Draft has must read material for years while his annual Top 100 Most Influential Canadians in Baseball list has provided deserved recognition for many year-over-year. It’s through Bob’s work that he’s forged relationships across Canada allowing him to tell great Canadian baseball stories to this very day.
The six-team final stage tournament is scheduled for the Summer of 2024. The participants will qualify in a twelve-team first stage in 2023. Thunder Bay will host one of the two groups from August 8-13, 2023.
OTTAWA- Canadian baseball stars from the past, present and future will take centre stage on Saturday, January 14th, 2023 as the Baseball Canada Awards Banquet & Fundraiser will mark its return to the Toronto Marriott City Centre Hotel inside Rogers Centre.
