MONCTON- Clayton Isherwood (Van Anda, BC) tossed a complete-game, two-hit shutout as defending champion BC opened the Baseball Canada Cup with a 4-0 victory over Alberta.
OTTAWA- After a two-year run in Kindersley, Saskatchewan the Baseball Canada Cup moves to Moncton, New Brunswick with play beginning on Wednesday. The event features a select team from all 10 provinces competing for a National Championship. Rosters will showcase some of the most talented 16 and 17 year-old baseball players in the country
OTTAWA- Labatt Park in London, Ontario has advanced to the semi-final round in Canada’s Favourite Ballpark contest. During the past week, Labatt Park received an impressive 79% of the total votes making them the Week 4 winner.
OTTAWA- After four weeks of voting, Canada’s Favourite Ballpark contest is down to four parks. This week we have Week 1 winner, Seaman Stadium in Okotoks, AB taking on Week 2 winner, Port Arthur Stadium in Thunder Bay, ON.
Cary, North Carolina- The Women’s National Team suffered their second loss of the International Friendship Series, this time 10-4 score to a combined team of USA Red and Blue.
OTTAWA- Matt Stairs (Fredericton, NB) has decided to retire after a wonderful 19-year career in Major League Baseball. Stairs’ career has seen him where the uniform of 13 different big-league clubs and win a World Series with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2008. Stairs also holds the major league record for the most career pinch-hit homeruns with 23.
Cary, North Carolina- For the second time in as many days, the Women’s National Team defeated USA Red, this time by a 7-5 score.
OTTAWA- Brett Lawrie (Langley, BC) has been called-up to the Toronto Blue Jays and will make his much anticipated major league debut this weekend.

OTTAWA- Two members of the Junior National Team will get the opportunity to showcase their talents at the Under Armour All-America Game, powered by Baseball Factory, at historic Wrigley Field in Chicago on August 13th. Gareth Morgan (Toronto, ON) and Ryan Kellogg (Whitby, ON) will be playing with and against some of the top high school players in North America in a game that has featured 18 first-round draft picks over its 3-year history.
