OTTAWA – The 2009 season was the first time the small town of Preeceville, Saskatchewan organized some minor baseball in the community over the last 25 years. Now for 2010, the Preeceville Minor Baseball Association has become the eighth local association in the country and the fifth from the prairie province to be “RBI Approved.”
OTTAWA – Baseball Canada has announced its Junior National Team 30-man roster that will be heading down to the Dominican Republic for the squad’s annual Dominican Summer League Camp which will take place from May 19-28.
OTTAWA – Adam Stern has been called up by the Milwaukee Brewers from the Triple-A Nashville Sound of the Pacific Coast League on May 11th.
OTTAWA – In the spirit of friendship, camaraderie and the growth of the game, Baseball Canada has agreed to send two of their top coaches to El Salvador to help train the Central American country’s high performance coaches in what will be a weeklong session.
OTTAWA – Baseball Canada would like to announce that the Weyburn Minor Baseball Association has become the seventh local association to become RBI Approved since Baseball Canada introduced the RBI Program in 2008. Weyburn also becomes the fourth association in Saskatchewan to meet the criteria.
OTTAWA – Mother’s Day is always a special day and three groups in British Columbia are combining to make the weekend a great day for moms and cancer research. The Canadian Cancer Society, Ball Park Sports, and the Lower Mainland Baseball Association are joining together to help raise funds for cancer research as the LMBA will be using special pink bats in the sixteen scheduled games on May 8th and 9th.
OTTAWA – After a rough first week of the season, Phillippe Aumont (Gatineau, QC) bounced back with authority on route to earning the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week honours for the week of April 19-25.
ORLANDO – The Junior National Team pitching staff saved its best for last, but it was not enough as the Atlanta Braves pitching staff were up to the task, matching the JNT pitch for pitch and struck the one and only blow needed in a 1-0 victory in the Disney Spring Training Camp finale.
ORLANDO – The Junior National Team erased a two-run deficit in the eighth and ninth innings and Kellin Deglan (Langley, BC) put the exclamation point on Canada’s comeback with a two-run walk off home run to give Canada a 3-2 victory over the Houston Astros at the Disney Spring Training Camp.
ORLANDO – One hiccup in what was an otherwise solid pitching performance by the Junior National Team turned out to be all the Detroit Tigers needed as the Canadians could not find any offence in a 4-0 loss to said Tigers at the Disney Spring Training Camp.
